Pastor Sam Adeyemi

Rev. Sam Adeyemi, senior pastor of the Daystar Christian Centre, Lagos, Nigeria, has narrated how his House on the Rock Church’s counterpart, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, gifted him N400,000 about 27 years ago to purchase a Mercedes Benz car.

Nigerian pastor suggests ways to tackle country’s security challenges

Adeyemi said he had just sold his car for N150,000 out of which N100,000 was paid and was planning to replace it but didn’t have enough money to do so.

He stated that he and his wife, Pastor Nike, were discussing with Adefarasin in a place he did not disclose, when the issue of pastors spending their own money for their churches came up.

Pastor Paul Adefarasin

According to him, Pastor Nike was narrating how a visiting prophet from the US called for a seed sowing in their church and how they (she and her husband) took N50,000 out of the N100,000 (down payment) realised from the sale of their car to sow into the kingdom of God’s kingdom.

“This conversation got to oh we, pastors, it is a church we still spend our money on at the end of the day. Pastor Nike in fact said recently there is this pastor that came from the US, a prophet and while he was ministering he said there is somebody here and the Holy Spirit is telling me now that you give N50,000. And instantly when he said it I turned to look at Pastor Nike, she turned to look at me. I knew it was us. She too knew it was us.

“We had just sold my car for N150,000 and we got N100,000 as the first payment. So, out of the N100,000 we took N50,000. As Pastor Nike just said it, I was supposed to just say ‘oh my God, you gave your car money to church.’

“He (Paul Adefarasin) just turned to his personal assistant and said ‘get me the cheque book; go to the car, go and bring the cheque book.’ He brought the cheque book, he wrote my name on the cheque. Ah! ‘Thank you Jesus. This is the day that the Lord has made.’ To write the figure, he hesitated. In my mind I was already thinking (of) N10,000 or N20,000. That was a lot of money then. Then he said, ‘I am sorry for disturbing this discussion. The Holy Spirit said I should write a cheque but he is disturbing my brain with figures.’ I said in my mind ‘Disturb am well o.’ ‘I increased the figure in my mind like N50,000 to N100,000.’ He said ‘I will give you a cheque for N400,000.’ This was 1998, so this is a 30 something year old story. I had not seen money like that in one….before,” he said.

Heaven delivered car specification

The cleric said when they arrived home that day, his wife suggested they should go into the room right away to thank God for the gift.

Adeyemi narrated that immediately they got into the room and about to kneel down to pray, his eyes caught a sticker he pasted on the wall where he had written the brand, model and cost of the car he wanted.

Pastor Nike Adeyemi

He said, “So, when we got home, Pastor Nike said ‘sweetheart, let’s just go straight into the room and thank God. So, we went. As I was about to kneel down, my eyes just went to a plain sheet of paper that I had stuck on the wall. I said wait, wait. So, I went and looked at it. What I had written on it was Mercedes Benz 230E 1984 Model. And the amount of money I wrote there was N400,000.

“Heaven delivered it to specification, the exact amount, the exact amount that I wrote that was a crazy figure when I put it there. One cheque!”

The Daystar pastor said he almost missed buying the colour of the car he wanted until the intervention of the Holy Spirit.

“The story didn’t end there. When the money cleared, then I went to look for the car. Is it Mile 2 now? Around FESTAC there they sell used cars.  I went there. I did not go with the money. I went to look for the car………because when you live in Lagos, you must have sense. If you live in Lagos and you don’t get common sense you don’t get it anywhere else again. They said when the man with the money meets the man with the experience, the man with the experience will go home with the money, the man with the money will go home with the experience,” Adeyemi said.

“We went and checked and saw this fine blue coloured one. We said ‘keep it aside, we are coming tomorrow.’ So the next day we went. And then they said, ‘sir, something interesting happened. Cars arrived overnight. We think you will like this one.’  When they showed me I almost screamed. It was only green, that was the colour I wrote. In other words, even when the thing was going to manifest and the colour was going to shift to be another one, the Holy Spirit still made sure that it was delivered. The specification!”

Stickers on room’s wall

Adeyemi said from that day he began to paste stickers with the inscription of whatever he wanted on his room’s wall.

“From that day on, you can’t come inside my bedroom and not see something on the wall. If it will work, work on it. Joseph did it for the animals. Jacob did it for the animals. How plain coloured animals produced….……is beyond us. That is where God steps in.

“So, I advise, if you are living in one room, maybe on the outskirts of your city, that is what you can afford for now, you have got to be careful. You’ve got to be careful because that one room is the last thing your mind sees before you sleep at night. That is the last picture you give your mind, that you put on your subconscious to work on.

“When you wake up in the morning, that is the same room that you see. If you don’t give your eyes something different to see, you will be turning that cycle, that same thing over and over again. Change what you are seeing. Be intentional with what you are seeing,” he said.
