The Redeemed Church of God (RCCG) has posted a new pastor to its City of David parish in Lagos, Church Times Nigeria reports.
Pastor Kayode Pitan was recently posted to the parish to replace Pastor Charles Kpandei who headed the parish briefly when the former pastor, Idowu Iluymade, was removed in June.
Iluyomade was suspended on June 1 and later removed over some allegations against him. RCCG authorities also ordered an audit of the financial records of the City of David Parish.
His removal was linked to a lavish party hosted by his wife, Siju, shortly after the death in a plane crash in the United States of a prominent member of the church and popular banker, Hebert Wigwe, on February 9.
Mr Wigwe, CEO of Access Holding, was killed alongside his wife, Chizoba, son, Chizi, and a friend, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, a former Group Chairman of the Nigerinn Exchange Group Plc.
Kpandei assumed duty as the parish pastor on June 9.
Church Times quoted a source as saying that Pitan, is a former managing director of the Bank of Industry, has been designated as the new pastor, and that the decision to deploy him was reached at the just-concluded convention of the church.
Until his new posting, Pitan was the pastor in charge of the Tabernacle of David of Region 51 and was also a regional pastor. His new posting makes him the pastor in charge of Region 20 with the City of David as its headquarters.
Kpandei has returned to his former post as the pastor in charge of Region 11 in Lekki.
