Nigerian Gospel singer, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, has revealed how he was invited to the prestigious Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast in the United States ahead of the inauguration of President-elect, Donald Trump, and his deputy, JD Vance.

Bassey had announced on Instagram two weeks ago that he was invited to participate in the faith-based platform where prayers are offered to God for the president and the government.

Trump will be inaugurated for a second term of four years on Monday January 20. He was president between 2017 and 2021.

Speaking during a programme at the weekend, the singer said he was on his way from church when he got a call from a female cleric in the US, Reverend Merrie Turner, inviting him for the programme

He said, “A few weeks ago, we had just finished service and worshiping the Lord in His presence and enjoying His embrace.

“And we were talking about glory. And the spirit of God had impressed on my heart to focus on God’s glory for this year.

“On my way from church, I got a call from a woman. She said my name is Reverend Turner, and she said to send for you to come and release the glory of God over our nation, America.

“I said – did you watch our live stream? She said ‘no, I said the Lord said, come release the glory of God.’ And then she began to weep over the phone and pray for me. She said she sees glory coming.

“I’m seeing that glory coming in this place. I’m seeing it. It’s like a wave in this place.”

The prayer breakfast takes place every four years ahead of the official inauguration of an American president.

Meanwhile, a prominent Nigerian pastor, William Kumuyi, has been invited to attend Trump’s second inauguration.
