{"id":1707,"date":"2024-01-23T22:31:30","date_gmt":"2024-01-23T21:31:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thechristian.ng\/?p=1707"},"modified":"2024-01-23T22:31:30","modified_gmt":"2024-01-23T21:31:30","slug":"american-pastor-raises-49000-for-gazan-christians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thechristian.ng\/?p=1707","title":{"rendered":"American pastor raises $49,000 for Gazan Christians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1653\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1653\" style=\"width: 188px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1653\" src=\"https:\/\/thechristian.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Gaza-Strip.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"177\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1653\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gaza Strip<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amid the raging war between Israel and Hamas, an American pastor, William Devlin, has raised over $49,000 for Gazan Christians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>The Christian Post<\/em>\u00a0reports that Pastor Delvin, who leads the Infinity Bible Church, South Bronx, said the money was raised using funds from donors across the U.S. and 52 churches of different denominations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said the conflict has however made it difficult to transfer the funds to Gaza in Palestine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cleric, who was once engaged in ministry work in Gaza way back in 2010, said a requirement for the fund to reach the beneficiaries is to go to the West Bank first.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said, \u201cAs soon as the banks in Western Union open up, we\u2019ll get that money over there to alleviate some of the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Jesus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u201cI stay in contact frequently with people in the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. Oftentimes it depends if the network is working and they are able to charge their phones since electricity is at a premium and often they cannot charge their phones, nor get on the internet or use WhatsApp.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The founder of REDEEM and Widows &amp; Orphan, a charity organisation, said Gaza with a population of about 2.2 million people, has about 1000 Christians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The clergyman lamented that Christian leaders are not going into Gaza to help believers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhy aren\u2019t more Christian leaders going into Gaza to help alleviate the sufferings of their brothers and sisters\u201d Why are we not going in and being a blessing for them?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThey need practical help; they need prayer. They need to be blessed by your presence, just as Jesus did for us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added, \u201cMay God protect our brothers and sisters in Jesus there in Gaza.
