A film on Jesus has been translated into the 2,000th language.
The 23 years old film, which is based on the Gospel according to Saint Luke, was recently translated into Zo, ChristianHeadlines is reporting.
Zo is spoken in Myanmar (formerly Burma)and by over 65,000 people worldwide, including refugee and immigrant communities in 28 U.S. cities.
The Executive Director of Jesus Film Project, Josh Newell, said the most dignified thing to do is to share the story of Jesus in a way that people can understand.
The Jesus Film Project is a ministry under the Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU).
“Being able to release ‘Jesus’ in Zo is the payoff of years of innovation and dedication. The most dignified thing that we can do is share the story of Jesus in a way that doesn’t need any translation. We’re excited for what the future holds as we continue to translate this life-changing story,” Newell said.
Newell and his wife, Holly, said the translation of Jesus film into 2,000 languages of the world is a milestone, representing what God has done in the lives of people worldwide.
Holly said, “So this milestone – the JESUS film in 2,000 languages – isn’t just a number; it represents what God has done in the lives of people around the world, as they have had the chance to hear about Jesus in their own language.
On his part, Josh said, “It’s a celebration of all that God has done over 40 years. It’s also a celebration of a coming day when no one will have to learn a second language to hear Jesus say ‘I love you.”
Jesus Film has been watched by over 10 million people globally since its debut in 1979. As of today, it is the most translated film of all time. Besides, close to 500 million people have surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ after watching the film.
