Renowned American televangelist, Morris Cerullo, has died at the age of 88.
Cerullo died in the early hours of Saturday July 11 in San Diego, California, United States.
Cerullo died barely 11 months after a visit to Nigeria.
The evangelist had preached at the August 2019 International Ministers’ Flaming Fire Conference of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Headquarters, Abuja, held between August 26 and 31 with the theme: “Glory to Glory.”
He had announced during the conference that the visit would be his last.
Cerullo, a Jew, was born on October 2, 1931. He lost his parents at a very tender age and was raised in an Orthodox Jewish Orphanage.
He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour around 15 years of age and received divine call to preach.
Cerullo attended New York Metropolitan Bible School, a New England Bible College and received doctorate of Divinity from Oral Roberts University and doctorate of Humanities from Florida Beacon College.
He accepted later founded Morris Cerullo World Evangelism and Morris Cerullo Schools of Ministry.
He travelled extensively around the world preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to millions of people in over 90 countries, in over 400 cities, on seven continents.
He also hosted Victory Today, a daily television programme, and wrote over 80 books.
He got divine instruction from God in 1962 to build “an army” for Him.
He said God revealed to him that he should train lay people, including doctors, lawyers, ditch diggers, plumbers, farmers, ranchers, carpenters, housewives, sailors, factory workers, household servants, who could be ministers.
Recently, the Morris Cerullo Legacy International Center in San Diego, California, was recently completed and would offer ministerial training for ordination, individual course training and Bible prophecy and Hebrew studies.
