President Donald Trump

American President Donald Trump has raised concern in Christendom over his remarks that he may not make Heaven, God’s throne.

Trump currently serving his second term, said recently that he does not think there is anything that is going to get him to Heaven, Christian Post reports.

“I don’t think there’s anything going to get me into Heaven. I think I’m maybe not Heaven-bound. I may be in Heaven right now as we fly in Air Force One. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make Heaven,” the 79-year-old told journalists on Air Force One on Sunday, October 12.

He was on his way to Israel to sign a peace deal ending the war in Gaza.

The journalists had asked him if brokering peace in the Middle East could help him make Heaven following his earlier comment on August 19 that he could do so if he ended the Russian-Ukrainian war.

“I want to try and get to Heaven if possible. I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I hear I’m really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to Heaven, this will be one of the reasons,” the president told “Fox & Friends” at the time.

While paying tribute to the slain conservative activist, Charlie Kirk, in September, President Trump praised his outspoken faith, describing the deceased as “a missionary with a noble spirit,” just as he admitted that he does not yet exhibit the grace Kirk showed towards his enemies.

Also, observers have said that since the president survived an assassination on July 13, 2024, he has been speaking frequently about faith, God, and eternity.

Requirements for making Heaven

The qualifications to enter Heaven vary across religions. However, for Christians, of which Trump is one, the basic requirements include accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour, confessing one’s sins, repenting and being saved by grace through faith, not by works, and living a transformed life.

The president had declared in October 2020 that he was no longer a Presbyterian but now considered himself a nondenominational Christian
