Bishop David Abioye

Bishop David Abioye, a former vice president of the Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel, has finally inaugurated his new ministry.

Abioye, 63, who retired from LFC last October, unveiled the new church, christened ‘Living World Conquerors Global Assembly,’ on Sunday May 4 in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

It was also the church’s first Sunday service, which was attended by a massive crowd, some of whom are reportedly members of the LFC.

Since his retirement, Abioye has been holding a weekly fellowship called “Hour of Revival.”

Punch newspaper reported that during the service, the bishop outlined the purpose of the new ministry, explaining that it was founded on divine direction and dedicated to the spiritual development, edification, and triumph of the saints globally.

Abioye, an engineer by profession, said the decision to start the new church was not influenced by public pressure or personal ambition, but was the result of God’s internal call, which he described as “ordained by the foundation of the word.”

He said, “May I make it very clear that the inauguration of this assembly is not in response to demands of people to start a church, but by the emergence of God’s eternal purpose, ordained from the foundation of the word, which is just coming to light at his own time.”

On his role in the new ministry, Abioye said he sees himself not as someone attempting to fulfil the entire Great Commission alone, but as a messenger raised for a specific assignment within a larger divine agenda.

Before concluding his speech, the clergyman declared: “On this final note, and to the glory of God, this assembly with the name “Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly,” is hereby inaugurated this day, Sunday, 4th May, 2025.

“In the name of God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit, for the spiritual development, edification and triumph of the saints globally and let someone join me to say a loud Amen.

“May I, therefore, welcome you specially to Conquerors Global Assembly, and everyone who witnesses this today will not cease to conquer in all affairs of your life. You will be named more than conquerors,” Abioye said.

He had announced on the previous Sunday that the fellowship would commence morning service on May 4.

Retirement

Until his retirement from LFC, one of Nigeria’s mega churches, founded by Bishop David Oyedepo, Abioye served as vice president and was in charge of its national headquarters called “Goshen” and located in Abuja.

He was retired alongside another vice president of the LFC, Bishop Thomas Aremu, who had also spent several years as a member of the church.

Bishops Abioye & Aremu

The duo was retired after the church reviewed “The Mandate” which serves as its operational manual. The retirement age was reviewed downwards to 58. While Abioye was 62 at the time of retirement, Aremu was 67.

However, their retirement angered some people, who not only felt they were not too old to be retired from God’s work but criticised Bishop Oyedepo for remaining in God’s service at 70. Oyedepo was born on September 27, 1954.

Even so, before its review, “The Mandate” clearly stated that as the founder and president, will serve for a lifetime.
