100 Days Fast: Adeboye replies critics, calls for release of man who abused him on Tiktok

".....I heard there is someone who thoroughly lambasted me. What is my offence? Because I told my people to fast for one hundred days, and I didn’t ask them to fast. I didn’t even ask anyone, not a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) member, to fast."

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Revered Nigerian pastor, Enoch Adeboye, has reacted to the criticism by a young man, who abused him for calling for a 100-day fast in his church.

Recall that Pastor Adeboye, the general Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), earlier in the year asked members of the church to fast for 100 days in the new year for Nigeria’s turnaround.

He gave the directive in January during first Holy Ghost service this year.

He said the first 30 days of the fast, which commenced on January 11, would be dedicated to praying for the nation.

He said, “Now, we are about to fast. We are starting January 11. 100 days, that’s all. If you fast continuously for 14 days, that will count for 28 days. If you fast continuously for 14 days, that will count for 28 days. If you fast continuously for 21 days, that will count for 63 days.

“Each day will be three if you fast 21 days continuously—that’s 63 years. If you fast continuously for 30 days, that will count for 100 days.

“If you are 70 and over, you are released, but if you want to join, by 3 p.m., you are released instead of 6 p.m.

“If you are 80, you can break by noon if you insist on joining us. Don’t let anybody deceive you into thinking I said this because I’m already over 80. I will do the single ones, and in the middle, I’ll do enough continuous fasting to cover the whole 100 days. I’m not leading from behind, and by the grace of God, in the end, we’ll remain healthy and strong.”

However, a TikToker, Olumide ‘Sea King’ Ogunsanwo recently criticised Adeboye for declaring 100 days fast.

Some youth members of the RCCG have since got the young man arrested for abusing Adeboye, who they called “Daddy GO.”

But in his response, the 82 years old cleric explained that he did not ask Nigerians to fast, stating that the directive was to his children (members of the church).

While speaking at the February Holy Ghost Service on Friday, the popular cleric said, “He (God) told us at the beginning of this year that mockers would become more active, bolder, and continue to mock. I heard there is someone who thoroughly lambasted me. What is my offence? Because I told my people to fast for one hundred days, and I didn’t ask them to fast. I didn’t even ask anyone, not a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) member, to fast.

“Only my children (church members) were those I asked to fast. God said it would happen. I was told that some people got so angry that they went to arrest the fellow. Please, release him. He is fulfilling the prophecy. For my children (church members), there is glory ahead.”
