Washington, 70, was baptised at The First Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ in Eastern New York on Saturday December 21, Christian Post reports.

“In one week, I turn 70. It took a while, but I’m finally here,” he said after the baptism.

Prophecy

The award-winning actor said when he was 20, he was sitting in his mother’s beauty parlour when he encountered a woman named Ruth Green.

He recounted, “She said, ‘Boy, you are going to travel the world and preach to millions of people.’ She wouldn’t even spell the world prophecy. My mother wrote the word prophecy……50 years later, look at God. If He can do this for me, there’s nothing He can’t do for you. The sky literally is the limit and there’s not limit to the sky.”

Washington expressed his gratitude for his wife, Pauletta, who was there supporting him from the congregation.

“To God be the glory. Hallelujah! Anything I can do, I will do for this church, the Almighty. I just want to be in that number when the saints go marching in,” he said.

Face of God

In November, the actor revealed that he once saw the face of God.

“I was on a yacht listening to music and praying, and there was a song on called ‘The Face of God.’ And I prayed, ‘Lord, everyone is singing about the face of God, and I want to see Your face.’ And then I heard, ‘Turn to your left,” he said.

Washington said he immediately turned and pulled out his phone to take a picture of what appeared to be a face in the clouds.

About Denzel Washington

Washington was born on December 28, 1954. He is an actor, producer, and director.

He is married to Pauletta and they have four children together.

His growing up was surrounded by the teachings of the Bible and rhythms of church life. His father, Denzel Hayes Washington Sr., was a Pentecostal minister, while his mother, Lennis, was heavily involved in church activities.

He started acting in the 80s and has at least 58 movies to his credit. Some of his movies include Glory (1989), The Tragedy of MacBeth (2021), Fences (2016), Devil In A Blue Dress (1995), Mississippi Masala (1991), Much Ado About Nothing (1993), Crimson Tide (1995), Malcolm X (1992), Unstoppable (2010), Inside Man (2006), and American Gangster.

He was named the greatest actor of the 21st Century by New York Times in 2020.

Washington, a prominent Hollywood star, has received several accolades, including two from Academy Awards, three from Golden Globe Awards and a Tony Award.
