Pastor Faith Abiola Oyedepo has described her husband, David Oyedepo, the presiding bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (LFC), as a great man whom God has used to bring down many goliaths.
Mrs Oyedepo said this in a special and emotional tribute to her husband, who clocked 70 years on Friday. Bishop Oyedepo was born on September 27, 1964.
Goliath is the biblical Philistine war leader who was defeated by David. 1 Samuel 17: 50-53.
Mrs Oyedepo, 66, said her husband whom she met in 1976 and got married to six years later, has a Christ-like heart and loves to help. She added that like biblical David, her husband is a man after God’s own heart.
“With utmost gratitude to God who is too faithful to fail and a sense of responsibility, I give this tribute to my husband of inestimable value at 70. Over 48 years ago, precisely in 1976, I met a young man of valour.
“He has a Christlike heart and loves to help people. Like David in the Bible, he is a man after God’s own heart, God has used him to bring down many goliaths,” she said in the tribute she shared online.
Marriage document
She further narrated how Bishop David produced a document which both of them signed to guide their marriage, noting “that document has been our guiding principle till tomorrow. And I can say, your spirituality, sense of humour, and devotion are impeccable.”
Bishop Oyedepo and Pastor Faith got married in August 1982. They have four children together – David Jr, Isaac, Love and Joyce.

With utmost gratitude to God who is too faithful to fail and a sense of responsibility, I give this tribute to my husband of inestimable value at 70. Over 48 years ago, precisely in 1976, I met a young man of valour. He has a Christlike heart and loves to help people. Like David in the Bible, he is a man after God’s own heart, God has used him to bring down many goliaths.
I said yes to his proposal for marriage. and I have never looked back nor regretted it. It is the second greatest yes of my life next to the one for accepting Jesus Christ my Lord and saviour. Six years after we got married. And for over 42 years he has been my husband of inestimable value, pastor, priest, friend, leader, and colabourer. And I can say this boldly every day with you is bright. In September 1976, you wrote a document titled, sailing under sealed orders which we both signed making Jesus Lord of all in our lives.
That document has been our guiding principle till tomorrow. And I can say your spirituality, sense of humour, and devotion are impeccable.
I speak as a privileged insider. God has made you living proof that His word works. from the early days of serving God together in God’s vineyard to holding crusades with other young people to building godly homes. My entire life has been impacted by your exemplary lifestyle. Needless to say, you inspire and keep me on my toes while focusing on heaven as our goal.
Your godly lifestyle mirrors God’s word to our children. No wonder each of them knows God personally and they are following God’s plan for their lives. Doubtless, you are a generational blessing. And as I said humorously, I want my heavenly mansion to be next to yours. Indeed, you are the best a wife will ask for. I am eternally grateful to have you in my life. I celebrate you. I pray you will continue to go from strength to strength. May this day usher you into a new dimension. and unction. Happy 70th birthday. Congratulations.
