Mansitula Buliro, 45, who was 13-weeks pregnant, narrated that on January 13, she heard a loud voice saying “Yeshua” at her residence in Obutete village, Agule County in Pallia District.

Yeshua means Jesus in Aramaic language.

“During the process a certain weakness entered my body, and then I saw a light coming from above, and I heard a loud voice saying, ‘Yeshua’ repeatedly,” Mansitula, a mother of seven, told the newspaper.

She said her husband who was shocked came out from the room where he was praying to find out what was going on.

She said when she narrated her vision to her husband, he got a copy of the Koran and started casting out the evil spirit from her which he thought had entered her.

She said that same night she saw another vision

Her husband, shocked, came from the room where he was praying and asked her what had gone wrong, she said.

“At midnight I saw a bright light and a man dressed in white clothes crossing the river coming towards me, and He said, ‘Peace be upon you – today I have chosen you to be mine,” Mansitula said.

She said she visited a Christian friend the next morning to tell her about the visions and that her neighbour prayed with her and enjoined her to put her faith in Jesus.

She further narrated that as she was about to leave her friend home, a Muslim neighbour (a man) walked in and challenged her, demanding why she was praying in the name of Jesus.

She said when she returned to her home about two hours later, her husband told her he had been informed that she had become a Christian and that he started beating her up.

Mansitula explained, “I kept quiet. My husband started slapping and kicking me indiscriminately. I then fell down. He went inside the house and came back with a knife and started cutting my mouth, saying, ‘Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar (jihadist slogan “God is greater”), I am punishing you to not speak about Yeshua in my house. This is a Muslim home.”

She said her two of her children who became frightened by what was happening also joined her to scream before neighbours arrived.

“There was blood all over from my mouth. My in-laws arrived, and in their presence my husband pronounced divorce: He said ‘Today you are no longer my wife. I have divorced you. Leave my house, or I will kill you,” Mansitula said.

She said a neighbour subsequently took her by motorcycle to a nearby hospital.

“I was examined, and they found that my foetus had been affected, and after four days I had a miscarriage. It is now very difficult to reunite with my family. I am now Christian, and I have decided for Issa’s cause,” she said.

Mansitula is currently living with some Christians at an undisclosed location, having lost her marriage.
