Police demolish “Church of Satan” in Nigeria

The auditorium of a Nigerian church, Assemblies of Light Bearer Greater Church, which styles itself “Church of Satan” has been demolished by the police.

The founder of the church, Ifekwe Udo, aka Lucifer or Fada-Fada, was also arrested. He had earlier been arrested after flouting the COVID-19 lockdown rules.

The church was located in Ohafia, a town in Abia State, South East Nigeria.

After the police shut down the church, a mob, went wild destroying satanic images in its front, accusing Udo of terrorising the community.

Fred Idika, the Chairman of Ohafia Area Council, said the Abia State Commissioner of Police informed officials of the council that they were coming to shut down the church.

He said the police came with the mobile court to pull down the church.

He added that the police officers, who came from the Force Headquarters, Abuja arrested Udo and others “over an offence I do not know about, but until they are arraigned, we should be able to know why they were arrested.”

Idika said Udo was a bad influence on the residents of the community.

He said the church founder became known in the community after establishing the church and was providing some jobless people with motorcycles on hire purchase.

Idika also said the founder, who also run a brothel in the area would not be allowed to return to the community.

“Even if Udo is released, the Council would not want him to continue with what he is doing in Ohafia because he is a very bad influence on the community,” Idika said.

Meanwhile, some residents of Ohafia have expressed happiness for the demolition of the Church of Satan.

Some of them who spoke with Vanguard newspaper said they were afraid to confront Udo over his activities.
